Poland Dipole Panel Antenna

18 or 19dBi - no mater for this one :) . Several dipoles printed on PCB board. Have more dipoles You get more dBis. Will it be 10 12 or 24 - You decide how much do You need.

This is defiantly homemade design. I have one small antenna whit only 4 dipoles - and it works great, so this antenna should work fine. Also will be easy to be rescaled for other bands - 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz only change dimension of the dipoles.

Here is the photo from the other side of the pcb board and other part of feeding element

Small Coax Omni Antenna for WIFI

Found on http://www.zero13wireless.net/foro/showthread.php?t=3964

I cant find original site of this antenna there is links on Zero13wireless forum.

I cut a lot of coax without any success before time in attempt to make a coax omni antenna.

This thing here is looking different. But maybe will work.

This is the idea :

30mm in the beginig 1/4 wave - may be patching section.

40 mm of outer of coax is used to dephaseing sections.

60 mm sections as 1/2 wave radiators.

And that is.

WTF, That's Gross: Bread Head Bakery

Kittiwat Unarrom got a master's degree in fine arts and now makes lifelike body parts out of bread at a bakery in Thailand. All the disturbing yeast sculptures are made out of dough, raisins, cashews and chocolate. He'll also paint the outside with some sort of edible paint to give it an even more gruesome appearance. When asked why he does it, Kittiwat replied, "I'm a wackjob and I like making people sick".* And what does The Geekologie Writer think of these bready body parts? We may never know -- he's too busy puking up the Spaghetti O's sandwich he had for lunch.
*As interpreted by yours truly.
UPDATE: VIDEO added after the jump.
More pictures after the jump, but warning: they're more graphic than the first one. Yes, I'm a girl. I wear frilly panties.

Vegeta From Dragon Ball Untooned

Despite my penchant for getting high and watching cartoons, I've never been into the Dragon Ball franchise. Although I may go see the live-action movie if I can sneak into the theater and throw moistened gummy bears at the screen while children cry. That could be fun. So yeah, here's Vegeta from the series in untooned form. Does he look good? I have no idea, I don't even know who Vegeta is. At first I thought he was a vegetarian sandwich at the local Cajun restaurant (UPDATE: turns out that's a vegelleta). Regardless, I think we can all agree on one thing -- my widow's peak puts his to shame. Seriously, ask anyone.

I suspect this scene is part of an after-the-credits recreation of those public service announcements that used to follow G.I. Joe cartoons. This one is probably about how Hummers and other large SUVs waste gas, and how you should tell your parents not to drive them lest Snake Eyes climb onto your in-motion vehicle, pull out a sword, and stab your mom and dad in the head.

'Batman: Gotham Knight' Trailer or Hypothetical Ways the Japanese Could Have Ruined Batman

This trailer for Batman: Gotham Knight doesn't contain anywhere near the number of giant Bat-mechs, oversized comic teardrops, or busty catgirl Robins I would have hoped for in a Batman-as-anime scenario. At least they remembered to give the superhero the malicious, horrid grin of the archetypical anime rapist character. I know where those Batarangs are going!

New 'Street Fighter' Shot: Chun-Li Looks Nothing Like You Remember

Why is this being made again? I mean, seriously. I know I've asked the same thing when I heard news of Shrek VI and 4 Fast 4 Furious and other ludicrous and largely-undesirable movies, but that was just me expressing my impotent rage--like how I'll scream "Why, God, WHY?!" when I learn I have a terminal illness, even though I already know the reason why (unhealthy living, various sins). But I really mean it this time. Why? Why would anyone choose to make a Street Fighter movie now?
I can understand the original attempt, which was hurriedly cashing in on the insane popularity of the video game in the early '90s, but surely interest has waned a bit over the last 15 years. Hasn't it? And it isn't like the game has some amazing storyline--I remember it being some people fighting for various reasons, like avenging a death, or proving sumo wrestling is OK--and the above shot (and this previous one) make it pretty apparent they're throwing the character design out the window, so what's left? A few names, the notion of fighting outdoors, a glimmer of nostalgia, and the ever-present shadow of a jump-kicking Jean-Claude Van Damme? What's the point?
I honestly don't know why someone thinks this is a good idea. If we've become so desperate for ideas that we're resorting to old video game franchises, let's at least move on to some we haven't tried yet. An Alvin and the Chipmunks-style Sonic the Hedgehog seems obvious enough. Let's get to it.

Bush approves Freedom Fans to fight global warming

GP News -- In a special congressional meeting held last night in the state capital, George Bush approved a new law to reduce global warming through the use of solar-nuclear fans.
if (typeof OAS_rns == "undefined") OAS_rns = new String (Math.random()).substring(2, 11);document.write('');// -->
Using Star Wars technology, the fans will be placed at strategic hot spots throughout the Earth’s Orbit, oscillating within 10 centimetres on either side. Bush has been quoted, "I think we all agree, the past is over. I got a lot of Ph.D.-types and smart people around me who come into the Oval Office and say, 'Mr. President, here's what's on my mind.' And I listen carefully to their advice. But having gathered the device, I decide, you know, I say, 'This is what we're going to do."It looks like that device is going to be the Freedom Fan, created from platinum and titanium, able to withstand the sub-zero temperatures and winds seen only in outer space. The Freedom Fans are equipped with HP motor drives aerodynamically balanced with a double-locking grill and motor, completed with a computerized chip enabling the fans to be controlled from a remote NASA station in Houston. The mounting bracket and hardware are also made from titanium. They will supply a steady, cool comfortable wind. Canadian prime minister, Stephen Harper has offered the use of the Space Arm technology to help in the Freedom Fan in order to get the tilt angle proportional to direct air flow. "We anticipate the need to do macro and micro adjustments to get this project on board. We are proud to be part of this ground breaking initiative to reduce Global Warming on a global scale," said a political spokesperson at a press conference held this morning outside Sparks Street.

This has been a collaborative project as well from a technology stand point. Using the latest high tech satellite imagery supplied by Google Earth, the Freedom Fan Team was able to pinpoint global hot spots and determine the best inter-orbital placement for the devices. In a bit of innovative technology swapping, the 2.75 trillion dollar project was able to reduce costs by using reconstructed parts from nuclear power plants throughout North America. A key component was retrieved from the recently retired Chalk River Plant. The Chalk River's Advanced Projects Division proved to be an unvaluable help. The 9200 CFM solar motor module, based on technology from the Columbia shuttle, will provide energy to the Freedom Fans nuclear membranic components. The solar battery will store enough energy to keep any fans running during the evening. Congress expects the first three of the seven fans to be launched just after July 4th. There were some concerns the Freedom Fans could disrupt b-b-q celebrations. Global cooling is just a short breeze away. For more information, log onto HappyAprilFoolsDay.com.

Climate Change Report warns Canada of upcoming changes

After several months of delay, the newly released report from Natural Resources Canada was quietly posted on the government’s website last week. Media stories had leaked details obtained after interviewing some of its key authors.
if (typeof OAS_rns == "undefined") OAS_rns = new String (Math.random()).substring(2, 11);document.write('');// -->
Wakeup callThe report, From Impacts to Adaptation: Canada in a Changing Climate 2007, provides some dramatic evidence of the costs of climate change. A region-by-region portrait shows the impacts of greenhouse gas pollution on Canadian life as well as the environment today and over the course of this century.It’s the first comprehensive national study in a decade on where and how climate change will impact Canada. Time for action"This report is yet another wake up call for a government that has not yet produced a meaningful climate change plan or passed any legislation to protect Canadians from global warming," said Graham Saul, Climate Action Network Canada. "Canada is paying the environmental and economic costs of climate change already, and unless the government acts immediately, the future impacts will be catastrophic," he said.A few of the report’s findings
Humans run the real risk of triggering processes in this century that will inevitably lead to "potentially cataclysmic surprises" in the next;
Canadians will experience greater economic and social impacts at the local and regional levels than national or global scale analyses predict;
Water quality and quantity will decline on a seasonal basis in every region of Canada. Prairie drought will become the norm.
Drought is responsible for 6 of the 10 most costly events in Canadian history. The national 2001-2002 drought cost about $5.8 billion and more than 41,000 jobs;
Excluding drought, short-term costs from nine extreme weather events between 1991 and 2005 totalled over $10 billion;
Climate-related impacts will create significant challenges for maintaining biodiversity in Canada’s protected areas;
We have the knowledge necessary to start undertaking adaptation activities in most situations now. Government slow to reactEvery independent analysis of the government’s April 2007 "Turning the Corner" report has concluded that its policy measures are too weak to reach its targets. Further, government MPs have spent the last two sessions of the House of Commons environment committee filibustering a private member’s bill that would set science-based climate targets for Canada.
Most Canadians think Earth Hour should happen more often
New cracks suggest largest remaining Arctic ice shelf destined to disappear
Bush approves Freedom Fans to fight global warming
Earth’s vital signs are weak
Rare earth elements on the endangered list Listen to the science "The government has said repeatedly that it respects the science of climate change," said Emilie Moorhouse, Sierra Club Canada. "If that’s true, then this report leaves the government no choice but to change course and radically strengthen its discredited climate strategy to prevent the worst impacts of global warming."Ignoring things the Canadian way "According to the federal Environment Commissioner, Canada still lacks a national strategy to adapt to the impacts of climate change," said John Bennett, Climate for Change. "This report shows exactly how vulnerable Canada is to the effects of global warming. An adaptation strategy that protects Canada’s environment and economy must become a government priority."May even be worse"Worrisome as it is, the scenario described in this report is a best-case scenario," said David Coon, Conservation Council of New Brunswick. "If countries like Canada don't replace their business-as-usual policies with a real plan to tackle greenhouse gas pollution aggressively, the consequences could be far more catastrophic than those described in this report." What you can doBelow are some actions you and your family can take today to reduce your personal greenhouse gas emissions. But remember, a lot more will be required if we are to prevent the coming climate crisis:
Contact your Member of Parliament and let them know you want action;
Make some noise -- write a letter to your local newspaper, ask them what they are doing about climate change and whether they will be covering the issue;
Organize a community meeting
Start reducing your greenhouse gas emissions: car pool, take public transportation, reduce/reuse/recycle/Ruth Edwards is the executive coordinator of the Climate Action Network Canada-Réseau action climate Canada.

Talk to the hand 'cause it's green!

After nearly 20 years, The Barenaked Ladies are still making us laugh and getting us to dance. But members Steven Page, Ed Robertson, Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, and Tyler Stewart have also devoted a lot of time and energy being green.
if (typeof OAS_rns == "undefined") OAS_rns = new String (Math.random()).substring(2, 11);document.write('');// -->
Shelagh McNally of Green Living Online spoke with lead vocalist Steve Page about the challenges of producing green music for their Talk to the Hand DVD and the upcoming SNACKTIME children's CD.Green Living Online: Have you tried the organic Mac n’ Cheese that’s out on the market?Steve Page: Of course, I’ve tried some of it. Some of it’s decent, but I still think the idea of powdered cheese mix pretty vile. It’s not that hard to make your own. You just take some cheese and some milk and some butter, and some flour.You guys are fairly green at home. You’ve done so much I don't think you could be accused of jumping on the green bandwagon.Well, no. We’ve been since the late 80s, since the early days of Earth Day. A lot of our early gigs we were doing environmental benefits. We did Earth Day celebrations. We did stuff with the World Wildlife Fund. I’m on the board of WWF in Canada. It’s a part of who we are as people, as parents, you know, and you try to have an impact on the industry you’re in and do your business with a clear conscience.What made you want to do the DVD, Talk to the Hand, Live in Michigan, fully green? We started by using FSC certified paper for the Barenaked Ladies Are Men CD. None of the printers that we had used for making CD packaging had ever used FSC paper. But we introduced that kind of paper to the printers who now could offer it to their other clients. With the DVD, we realized a big part of the package is that plastic tray. So, we found this potato starch tray instead, which at least is biodegradable. Obviously, the greenest option is to download it, but if you’re going to buy a physical product, you want it as green as possible.How long did it take you to find everything and pull it all together?It took a fair amount of time. One of the singers from the band GUSTER, -- who is a good friend of ours -- started a group called REVERB to help musicians green their businesses, initially with their touring plans, setting off with bio-diesel and biodegradable cups and plates. When we came to REVERB saying we wanted to change our packaging for our CDs and DVDs, they were amazing at sourcing that stuff out.
Seeing the world with new eyes
The Environmental Timeline: 1990-2007
Everyday is Earth Day
The Environmental Timeline: 1970-1989
Earth Day quotesWhat was the worst part? What was the best part? Well, obviously, the worst part of it was the cost of a lot of the stuff, and people saying ’no,’ a lot of time as their first reaction. But you keep it working, reminding them that you're willing to pay for the product. The good thing is, seeing them change their tune when they realize that there are other customers out there. The printers and packagers aren’t the enemy. If they don’t feel there’s any demand for the product, they won’t stock it. But when they actually see that there’s a demand for it and then other artists see that it’s available, then we can become quite popular, and that’s the reward.And so do you see the green element as helping your sales? I can’t imagine it makes too much of a difference to our sales. It certainly doesn’t hinder our sales. In certain ways some of our costs did go up with some of the stuff, but we know that as early adopters hopefully costs will eventually go down. A few people might buy it out of curiosity, but people want music for music’s sake.Was there an interest in the other formats you offered, downloads and flash sticks? We released the last couple of records on the flash drives. And at the live shows you could buy that night’s show on the drive and walk home with it. We haven't been able to start offering video on it yet. But, it’s a nice idea. The other thing about that is it’s re-usable, too.You know, retail has not shown a huge interest in that kind of thing, which is pretty frustrating for us. I would have thought the Future Shops and Best Buys of the world who specialize in electronic goods as well as the software would eat that up, but, they don’t seem to know how to rack it -- where to put it.

May 30 2008I Want This Boat -- The Wallypower 118

The $33 million Wallypower 118 is the boat of my dreams. Its 118 feet are powered by five engines -- 2 diesels for tooting around the marina, and 3 jet turbines, for pirating at over 70 MPH. At top speed it guzzles a liter of fuel per second, which limits the range of its 22 ton fuel tanks to 400 nautical miles (compared to 1,500 nm if you're just putting around with the diesels at 9 knots). I could go on and on about how I want to get one and pirate my life away, but instead I'll just say this: I take back all the mean things I said about the guy that has sex with cars, because I would totally do this boat.
A TON more pictures that you WILL look at because I spent a lot of time editing them (and there's one of a chick in a bikini from 50 miles away). Also, some videos.

Vive la difference: Organic wine in France

(Jan 31, 2008)Although eating organic has caught on in France, drinking organic has been slow to follow. A growing number of wine-producers are re-discovering the joys of "le vins bio."
if (typeof OAS_rns == "undefined") OAS_rns = new String (Math.random()).substring(2, 11);document.write('');// -->
In the soilFor years wine producers thought that in order to reap a good grape harvest they needed chemical weed killers and fertilizers. It was a time saving process, the soil needed less work and growers could expect a higher yield. However, it came with a price. Using these methods destroyed the microbes and bacteria in the soil, affecting the taste colour and aroma of the wine. Healthy SoilLuckily a growing number of French wine producers are re-discovering the importance of healthy soil and are using grapes grown from organic soil. These organic growers do not use fertilizers fungicides or herbicides but encourage the build up of stable humus through composting. Weeds are allowed to grow, cut back, rot, and are then ploughed back into the earth. The soil is kept active using organic fertilizer and a controlled minimum of nutrients such as copper. At least three years are required to prepare the soil when changing from traditional to bio production.Vines In order to prevent diseases such as mildew, the vines are often be stripped to control the air circulation. To guard against harmful worms which attack the grapes a natural bacterium is added.Some organic wine growers prefer to handpick the grapes so as not to damage the fruit and to make sure that only the ripest are chosen. The added benefit of this organic way of producing wine is creating a sustainable economy by providing regular employment in a healthy environment.SulphitesSulphites are a natural by-product resulting from the fermentation process when wine is being made. It’s not toxic and is a natural preservative. Many wine producers add in more sulphites in the form of sulphur dioxide, which often causes allergic reactions. Organic producers add half the amount present in traditional wine, thereby reducing reactions and the aftermath.

Processing in the cellar is reduced to a minimum, to regain time lost working the soil. National logoOrganic wine produced in France will have the National Logo for organic products--- the AB logo agriculture biologique which is owned by the State. Additional information clearly visible on the label will state "Vin issue de raisins Biologique" but will never state organic wine. The name of the accreditation body is also stated. The mark is a guarantee that the producer is preserving the quality of the soil and encouraging biodiversity.Gradual increaseOrganic viticulture has increased though by 40 percent since 2001 especially in the south where the threat of diseases such as rot and mildew is less because of the warm dry climate. Wine producers are recognizing the increased quality of the wine and even in hostile areas like the Champagne region there are more demands for conversion.As well as respecting the environment, the organic wine producer tends to his wine making with so much care that one can taste the love in the first sip. Isn’t it wonderful to wine and dine knowing that hangovers are a thing of the past?Alice Alech is a freelance writer based in France, who has been researching organic wine.

All the water, none of the plastic

(Mar 20, 2008)March 22 was World Water Day and throughout Canada university students are pushing back against water bottles and the companies that are commercializing this precious resource to create water bottle free zones.
if (typeof OAS_rns == "undefined") OAS_rns = new String (Math.random()).substring(2, 11);document.write('');// -->
Water is on the biggest commercial products on the market today. Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Nestle, and Danone all make major profits from selling bottled water. The results have been an explosion on water bottles that are polluting the earth.Across CanadaIn fifteen different schools from Memorial University in Newfoundland to Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia, students are creating zones where organizations or businesses promise not to give or sell water contained within a plastic bottle. The desire to rid campuses of water bottles is motivated by environmental concerns as well as social justice worries.Inside the bottle"Start with production, bottles are actually made out of crude oil and natural gas," said Andrea Harden, an Inside the Bottle campaigner with the Polaris Institute. "Then there is the transportation across a city, a province, a country, or even an entire continent, that has a significant greenhouse gas impact. Plus, what happens once the water is consumed? The bottles are either recycled or thrown in the garbage, and I have seen a lot of bottles in garbages or washed up on shores. These are serious environmental impacts when we have tap water and we can consume it for free and it is sustainable."Guelph leads the wayOne of the universities leading the charge to kick plastic bottles off campuses is the University of Guelph, Ontario. There the Guelph Students for Environmental Change (GSEC) have campaigned student groups and faculties to create policies promising to never use bottled water in their events.

Get rid of plastic water bottlesSo far, GSEC has gotten a lot of support, with everyone from the Muslim Student Association to the University of Guelph Campus Radio Station promising to stop using water bottles.Changing habitsSilvie Fojtik, a fourth year student in water resource management and leader in the GSEC "Tap-In" program, is hoping to even bring the water bottle free message to September’s First Year Orientation Week by renting a large water tank and parking it in a central location on campus. That way any thirsty first year student could just wander to the tap with their frosh week mug and quench their thirst.Fojtik admits that the program being launched this week with some family friendly rallies, public lectures, and even a taste testing, has to overcome some major obstacles such as making sure there are public water fountains and that businesses can still be profitable without water bottle revenue.Image problems One of the major hurdles is an image problem. People still equate bottled water with something healthy. "One of the major reasons we get organizations to pledge is to remove exposure of bottled water, which is everywhere," said Fojtik. "If we can get professional events and groups on campus to show that they are comfortable using jugs and glasses, then it could disturb that image of bottled water being the only acceptable way of drinking water."So, this Saturday, why not drink a toast to World Water Day by raising a glass of tap water, not a bottle. Ed Begley Jr. with some green suggestions

(Apr 16, 2008)Ed Begley Jr first caught our eye playing Dr. Victor Ehrlich on the long-running hit television series, "St. Elsewhere," for which he received six Emmy nominations. He is also become famous for being one of Hollywood’s original greens and turning up to events on his bicycle.
if (typeof OAS_rns == "undefined") OAS_rns = new String (Math.random()).substring(2, 11);document.write('');// -->
He’s been showing us all how to go green with his comedy reality show Living with Ed and his recent book Living like Ed. You can hear Ed speak at the Toronto Green Living Show on Saturday, April 26. Shelagh McNally spoke to Ed about going green and getting connected. Green Living Online: Bobby Kennedy, Jr. has described you as someone with a greater sense of social obligation than most of us have. How did you get involved in being green? Ed Begley Jr.: In 1970 I got involved with the first Earth Day. I wasn’t at the Washington Mall but I celebrated in California. I just wanted to do something because I grew up in L.A. and one day I just got fed up with the smog. I wanted to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. So I bought an electric car. I started recycling and composting. I did everything I could in every part of my life where I could make a difference. And, it felt good. Would you agree being connected is at the heart of the green movement? We have to have some kind of connection to the living world. At the end of the day it may be nice to look at a picture of Yosemite or Yellowstone while surfing the net. But you have to put the mouse down, close up the computer and get out there. Put on some boots and go for a hike, get your hands in the dirt, plant in your backyard or start a community garden. Get some contact with the earth. You have been extremely patient with the new technologies. What do you think about all the new green technologies coming out? There are so many choices now, so many functional tools in the tool box that we can all use. I urge people to do what I did in 1970. I was not a successful actor back then. I was a struggling actor so I did what I could afford. I picked the low hanging fruit first since that’s all I could afford. I couldn’t afford solar panels! It took me 20 years to afford solar electric and 15 to afford solar hot water. So you start small and you build: CFL light bulbs, energy saving thermostats, bike riding when weather and fitness permits, taking local transportation, good insulation in the house. Start cheap and easy. You’ll save money on all the things I’ve mentioned -- I promise you. And then you can move up the ladder if you’re so inclined.

Living Like Ed
Rare earth elements on the endangered list Your book uses that image of a tree to divide green into different levels. How long did it take you to figure out the levels and the costs? I just did what I could afford. I bought an electric car for 950 dollars. I didn’t do it to save money; I did it to save the environment. I was more shocked than anyone when I started saving money. It was simply cheaper to plug it into the wall than it was to buy gasoline even with the 1970 prices. And it was much cheaper to service since there was no tune-ups, no oil changers, fan belts or radiators. There was no smog check. What I urge people to do is buy my book or any other How to book on environmental matters and do the small and simple things first. Do what you can afford. People on any budget can afford a light bulb, weather stripping or to compost -- if you have the room. I did it in my apartment in the 1970s. I didn’t have a house then. I did it in a pail and mixed it up and buried it somewhere else. If you don’t have a piece of dirt in front of your home, join a community garden. Start small and build. Is part of our problem that we just have too much?That’s definitely at the root of the problem. At the end of the day even solar panels and electric cars are not going to bring you happiness. They are just things and can’t bring satisfaction. We need to live simply so others can simply live. With simpler lives, we have a better quality of life. We’re not spending all our time servicing our stuff. Affluenza -- the flu you get from having too much. How can we encourage people to have the sense of adventure and excitement when going green? You know my sense of excitement comes from making positive changes and being able to do something positive. I get that from my father. He was a conservative who liked to conserve. I’m not to the same political persuasion as my father but he was a great man. He always did what he said and said what he did and encouraged me to do the same. I get my enthusiasm from results. You know, we have four times the amount of cars in L.A. than we did in 1970 yet we have half the pollution. I own a small piece of that. Everybody in L.A. does for doing all the stuff that helped clean up the air: catalytic converters, staying the course, allowing our local government and air quality management district to do their job and adhere to the Federal clean air act. We did it. We haven’t gone to the top of the mountain but we have climbed halfway. We’ve shown we can do it.

Wack: Yamaha's New Motorcycle Concept

When you think of motorcycles what's the first thing that comes to mind? Exactly, that they should be wearable. Well finally designer Jake Loniak has created the Yamaha Deus Ex Machina (Latin for Ass Machine). The bike is "an electric, single passenger, vertically parking, wearable motorcycle, and the bike would theoretically be controlled via 36 pneumatic muscles and 2 linear actuators." The thing would allegedly be capable of hitting 0-60 MPH in three seconds and 60-0 in the side of a bus. Anybody else think Jake modeled this thing after those scary-ass Wheelers in Return To Oz? I bet he did. And speaking of scary things in movies -- what do you call a kid that cries and pees himself in the theater because his dad took him to an R-rated horror flick when he was 7? A giant pussy and no son of mine! Get it? Because that's what my dad said before he emptied my Skittles onto the floor and made me walk home. A couple more pictures and a video of the Wheelers after the jump, in case you didn't know what the hell I was talking about.

OLED Phone Will Stick Out Of Your Pocket

That is one looong phone. It certainly brings new meaning to the phrase "long distance calling" doesn't it? No, it doesn't, and that didn't make any fucking sense. If you thought it did you should see someone. Like me -- I love crazy people. So what we have here is the "NEED", a two OLED touchscreen phone by designer Tamer Koseli, whose aim was a "no frills" design.He argues mobile phones are basic multimedia gadgets, far from their traditional aim of communication. He wanted to create a device with no superfluous features. That's right, you won't find a MP3 player, video capabilities, or even a camera.Now call me an evil genius, but I'm pretty sure having two OLED touchscreens isn't a "no frills" feature. Honestly, that shit is frilly as hell. I mean, you write the damn number you want to call and it dials it? I think that's a little more superfluous than, oh I don't know, punching numbered buttons. That said, what in the hell kind of number is D544 B7B 3...? Do you think it's one of those phone sex things? I love those. I don't even need to talk to a real person, the automated part at the beginning is enough for me.A bunch more pictures of the thing after the ring-a-ling-a-ding-dong. God I need help.

UPDATE: Alien Video To Be Shown To Media Today, Now With Frame Grab From Video

You may have heard of Jeff Peckman, he's that lunatic in the picture (looking even spacier than the father of LSD) that's trying to get Denver to put together an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission to deal with alien encounters and the subsequent probings. Well now he's convinced he has video footage of a real-life alien that proves their existence. The video will be shown to the media today, but is not allowed to be filmed, as it's part of a documentary set for public release next month.
An instructor at the Colorado Film School in Denver scrutinized the video "very carefully" and determined it was authentic, Peckman said.
Peckman, 54, said the video was among the reasons he was "compelled" to launch the proposed ballot initiative, which has generated news as far as South Africa.
"It shows an extraterrestrial's head popping up outside of a window at night, looking in the window, that's visible through an infrared camera," he said. The alien is about 4 feet tall and can be seen blinking, Peckman said earlier this month.
Way to try to sell some shitty alien documentary guys, but I'm not falling for it. Listen -- I know the easy thing to do when you wake up in the morning with a tender ass is to blame aliens, but sometimes you need to man up and admit there IS a possibility that you got too drunk and told your girlfriend to stick something up there. I'm just saying, it happens.UPDATE: Frame grab picture that was handed out to the media added after the jump.

VR Masks: The Future Is Gonna Suck

If there's one thing I hate, it's reality. I wake up in the morning and gone is the hot chick I was making out with in my dream. And gone right along with her is not having to work, pay bills, or build a robot/zombie proof bunker. God I really hate waking up sometimes. Well to make reality a little bit more bearable comes these conceptual virtual reality masks.In a troubling future, these augmented reality devices would offer a new dimension - a virtual layer that could be used to "re-skin" the troubling outside world. A boundary between the wearer and the world around him, the device would become a sort of visual drug, used to make the world appear a better place - even if just for a moment. Within the mask, smells, sounds, even air quality would be imitated to create a full sensory experience. The facial expressions of those wearing the device would be detected and projected onto personal avatars visible to others also living behind the shield of the mask.Man, at first I thought this sounded promising, now it just sounds stupid. Screw this. I'm just gonna triple my dosage of Ambien and try to sleep 20 hours a day. What's that -- I should wash it down with a liter of bourbon? You got it!A couple more pictures, including a look inside the (conceptual) mask, after the jump.
